Örn Clausen

Örn Clausen (born November 8, 1928 in Reykjavík , † December 12, 2008 ibid) was an Icelandic athlete who took second place in the decathlon at the European Athletics Championships in 1950 .

At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 , Örn Clausen was eliminated in the 100-meter run in the preliminary run. In the decathlon he reached 6,444 points (6146 points according to today's rating) and thus took twelfth place. Two years later, at the European Championships in Brussels in 1950, Örn Clausen fought for the gold medal together with the Frenchman Ignace Heinrich . In the end Heinrich was 67 points ahead, Örn Clausen received the silver medal for 7297 points (6819). In 1951 it improved to 7453 points (6932) and thus took third place in the annual world best list.

With a height of 1.84 meters, his competition weight was 83 kilograms. Örn Clausen's twin brother Haukur Clausen was also a track and field athlete.
