Haukur Sigurðsson (born July 28, 1930 in Ólafsfjörður ) is a former Icelandic ski racer .

Career

Haukur started at club level for Skíðafélag Ólafsfjarðar from Ólafsfjörður. In February 1952 he took part in the alpine skiing competitions at the Winter Olympics in Oslo , Norway . In the giant slalom , the then 21-year-old Icelander crossed the finish line after 2: 57.0 minutes as 51st and best compatriot among 83 starters. On the following day, Haukur was again the best Icelander in the downhill race in 3: 06.0 min and finished 49th out of 81 runners. It remained his best Olympic result. In the final slalom on February 19, Haukur did not finish in the first run and was therefore unable to qualify for the second run. Sigurðsson also took part in the 1954 Alpine World Ski Championships in Åre .
