Remarks

After there was a lack of snow, there was extensive snowfall in Norefjell around February 4th, so that training could start there for February 6th.

The training times were divided into groups in order to avoid accidents. Ultimately, over a meter of snow fell, which was prepared by spraying water. On the downhill piste, binding the loose snow to the ground made difficulties and new snow had to be brought in; the slopes have been closed for training. In spite of everything there was not enough snow, the training sessions could only be done on sparsely snow-covered tracks.

Up to this point in time there were no fixed start groups. It could have been that the lot could have brought all the starters of a nation to the last starting places. To avoid this, the runners were divided into groups of ten. Each strong nation brought one runner between the start numbers one to ten, eleven to twenty, etc. The FIS allowed a total of only eight runners per nation for the alpine competitions. At a meeting in Bern , the FIS discussed the protests against Dagmar Rom , James Couttet and Zeno Colò for violating amateur status, but it was not intended to make a definitive decision.

The participants in the German Olympic team from 1952 all came from West Germany. Nevertheless, they are listed on the IOC website partly under the abbreviation GER and partly under the abbreviation FRG.

Colò was not ahead of any of the split times measured by Norwegian journalists in four places. Pravda jumped too much in his run, which kept him slow. Schöpf fell badly, broke through the protective wall made of wood and straw, was thrown into the forest and lay unconscious.

Spiss was on the way to a new best time in the first round, but he was eliminated at the third goal from last (a binding jaw on the left ski was torn from the wood). Eriksen made slight mistakes in the second run. Pravda was out of control and fell five times. In contrast, Schneider's run was excellent. Senger, who, together with Eriksen, was the leader after the first run and also the fastest in the second run, was disqualified because of a mistake at the last goal of the course.

Mead-Lawrence was the best runner in the world. Dagmar Rom made many mistakes, but she coped with all situations. Borghild Nisken believed for a while that she was a third party because she had been passed on as such by the loudspeaker.
