The 48th Alpine World Ski Championships are scheduled to take place in February 2025.

On May 1, 2019, the FIS announced that three winter sports locations had submitted their candidacy by the deadline on that day: Crans-Montana ( Switzerland ), Garmisch-Partenkirchen ( Germany ) and Saalbach ( Austria ). A first hearing of the candidates took place at the FIS conference in Dubrovnik at the end of May 2019 , the final concept must be submitted by September 1, 2019.

The final award should have taken place during the 52nd FIS Congress in Royal Cliff in May 2020 , but this has been postponed due to the measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and will probably only take place in autumn 2020.

Saalbach had already hosted the 1991 World Cup and last applied unsuccessfully for the 2023 World Ski Championships , while Garmisch last held the 2011 World Cup .
