The house 47 ° 40'48 "N / 13 ° 8'12" E is a residential building in Adnet near Hallein, in the province of Salzburg . The building was awarded for its modern architecture .

Location and architecture

The house is about a kilometer east of Hallein , on Adneter Riedl , in a small rural homestead above the Salzach Valley.

The building was planned by the team of architects maria flöckner and hermann schnöll in 2002 and executed from 2005 to 2007. It appears flat and compact, as two wide, horizontal concrete slabs, between which the rooms are clamped. These are a collection of cubes , nine geometrically identical wooden modules, partly glazed, that make up a diverse interior space. At the same time, it is by no means conspicuous and in its low form remains integrated into the landscape - and from inside the landscape remains permanently integrated. The building is reminiscent of Mies van der Rohe's Farnsworth House or buildings by Shigeru Ban , but differs in that it is not based on the construction, but rather on the composition. It shouldn't be surprising in its technical execution, but rather in terms of the feeling of living and the structure of the settlement: "The starting point for the design is completely different, not a classicist-mathematical, but a structural-poetic one."

The name of the project chosen by the architects “describes the house, but does not name it”, “describes a specific, but also arbitrary, building site in the country. The surrounding landscape is unique, but can be replaced by other landscapes, cities or towns. "

The building was awarded the 2008 Salzburg State Architecture Prize for its original architecture .
