House Buhl

The House Buhl is a Grade II listed building in the Heidelberg Old Town near the eastern city access.

The main wing was built between 1703 and 1714 for Friedrich Gerhard von Lünenschlos (also Leuneschloß), professor at Heidelberg University . The building is attributed to the architect Johann Jakob Rischer . In 1763 the property belonged to Baron Hugo von Helmstatt and, after several changes of ownership, from 1889 to Professor Heinrich Buhl , who bequeathed it to Heidelberg University. She uses the palace as a guest and social house.

The two-storey house with a mansard hipped roof is located at Hauptstraße 234, the most important street in Heidelberg's old town, opposite the Palais Weimar near the Karlstor . The baroque main facade has seven window axes with typical ear windows. The portal with the flight of stairs and the Louis Seize style interior probably date from the second half of the 18th century. The stairwell is based on Wiser Castle in nearby Leutershausen . The master's room dates from Buhl's time 1889–1907.
