The Kotzenberg house is a building in Darmstadt .
History and description
The Kotzenberg house was built in 1911/1912 according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Koban . The Norwegian consul in Darmstadt, Karl Kotzenberg, resided in the villa . The lavish villa is reminiscent of Norwegian models. Typical of this style are the wide, beaver-tail-covered roof with two full storeys . The elaborate design of the windows (especially in the area of the dormers and the gable windows ), the extensive shingling of the gable with wooden shingles , the base made of quarry stone and the design of the columns in the entrance area are remarkable ; where the ground floor jumps back in favor of a small entrance terrace , as is typical for country houses of that time.
House Kotzenberg today
The Kotzenberg house now serves as a liaison house for the Corps Hassia . The owners of the villa have been trying since 1988 to restore the historic gardens with the box-hedge-lined area around the house. including a subsequent extension.
