Facade on Markgrafenstrasse (approx. 1902)

The house at Markgrafenstrasse 10 in Leipzig is a residential and commercial building that was built in 1900/01 for the wine merchant A. Bodenstein based on designs by the architects Richard Lucht and Theodor Quietzsch .

Originally the Pleißenburg was located on the site , of which the old wall was still visible. In 1899 A. Bodenstein acquired the 762.0 m² property for 300,000 marks .

The front of the building is on two streets, Markgrafenstrasse and Ratsfreischulstrasse. The floors in Markgrafenstraße are full height, the component on Ratsfreischulstraße is lower, here the fourth floor is only designed as an attic . The facade on Markgrafenstrasse is made of ashlar , the one on Ratsfreischulstrasse as a plastered facade, the structure is made of reddish artificial stone .

The building is listed . In addition, a cartouche in the courtyard and room paintings on the ground floor and first floor are again separately protected as monuments of the fine arts. In May 2009, the restoration work on the largely original house was completed.
