House of Rhineland-Palatinate

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The House of Rhineland-Palatinate (French: Maison de Rhenanie-Palatinat ) in Dijon is an institution of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate in the capital of the French region of Burgundy-Franche-Comté .

The facility in the old town of Dijon has existed since September 29, 1991 and was founded because of the interregional partnership between Rhineland-Palatinate and Burgundy, the first Franco-German partnership between a German country and a French region .

The House of Rhineland-Palatinate works on the one hand as a German cultural center, on the other hand as an intermediary between Rhineland-Palatinate and Burgundy. As a German cultural center, the house has a library, organizes readings by authors, art exhibitions and the "Rhineland-Palatinate Days" street festival every year at the end of June, conducts German courses and exams, and promotes German language learning with the Mobiklasse campaign Primary schools and colleges ( lower secondary ) in Burgundy-Franche-Comté. An intermediary service is, for example, the internship agency that Haus Rheinland-Pfalz maintains together with its counterpart Haus Burgund, which was built in Mainz in 1994. The House of Rhineland-Palatinate has been cooperating with the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office since 2014 . Both institutions jointly organize a Franco-German voluntary service in which volunteers between the ages of 18 and 25 work in cultural institutions in the other country for a year and get to know the country and its people.

Furthermore, the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for Burgundy, Till Meyer, has had his official seat in the House of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1994, who was also head of the House of Rhineland-Palatinate. Bernhard Schaupp has been Head of the Rhineland-Palatinate House since October 2019.

Due to an agreement concluded in 1991, the house is financially supported by the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament and supported by the Burgundy regional council. The more than 100 projects of the House of Rhineland-Palatinate annually are funded and supported by sponsors, among others, by the State Chancellery and ministries of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate, the Foreign Office, the Goethe Institute and foundations such as the Robert Bosch Foundation.
