Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office
The Rhineland-Palatinate Culture Office is a service facility for those interested in art , culture and education . The cultural office is based in Lahnstein after it had to move out of the culture factory in Koblenz in 2012 due to lack of space .
General
The Kulturbüro Rheinland-Pfalz is the office of the Landesarbeitsgemeinschaft Soziokultur & Kulturpädagogik Rheinland-Pfalz eV, which as an umbrella organization currently represents 23 socio-cultural and cultural-educational institutions and associations in the state. With the founding of the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office, the state working group has not only created an office for association work, but also a service facility that supports cultural workers, schools, artists and voluntary workers in the state with its advice, seminars and projects and as a cooperation partner of the state of Rhineland -Pfalz appears to promote the development and expansion of youth art schools in the state. The cultural office is organized under the umbrella organizations Federal Association for Cultural Children and Youth Education (BKJ), the Federal Association of Sociocultural Centers and the Federal Association of Youth Art Schools and Cultural Education Institutions (BJKE).
carrier
After the state elections in 1991 , the state working group for socioculture and cultural education eV (LAG) was founded as an association of interests of several small sociocultural centers. The aim was to create a representation of interests in the state that can exert influence on a political level for the good of the culture in Rhineland-Palatinate .
The original name of the LAG was initially limited to socioculture . It was not until 2002 that the association's title was expanded to include the term cultural pedagogy "and thus set a new focus in its association work." as the office of the LAG was founded and is created.
Fields of work
Lobbying
As the office of the LAG, it supports the work of the latter and is committed to strengthening the independent cultural scene in Rhineland-Palatinate. In particular, current cuts in the state government's budget, which are at the expense of the independent cultural scene and will bring smaller cultural businesses into financial difficulties, are viewed extremely critically, as this will weaken the rural regions of Rhineland-Palatinate. Committing to the independent cultural scene in Rhineland-Palatinate on a political level is therefore one of the background tasks that the cultural office pursues.
Voluntary social year
As the official sponsor of the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) in the areas of culture, all-day school and politics in Rhineland-Palatinate, the cultural office looks after almost 350 young adults between 16 and 26 years of age who do their voluntary social year at schools, cultural and communal institutions. The task of the cultural office is to place the volunteers and to be the contact person for FSJ students and volunteer sites alike during the year. The tasks of the volunteers are extensive and can be shaped according to personal preferences. They range from simple caretaker jobs to homework support at all-day schools.
Franco-German voluntary service culture
In addition to sponsoring the voluntary social year , the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office also offers voluntary service in France. As part of the international voluntary service , a Franco-German voluntary service in the field of culture is offered in cooperation with the House of Rhineland-Palatinate in Dijon . German volunteers can work in one place in Burgundy and French volunteers in Rhineland-Palatinate. This exchange of volunteers will be offered for the first time in 2014.
FSJ digital
Since autumn 2015, the cultural office has been sponsoring the so-called "FSJ digital", designed as an additional qualification for young people who are already doing an FSJ. The basis of this new project is the coalition agreement of the current CDU / CSU / SPD government. Here it is specifically mentioned that non-profit institutions can benefit from the digital skills of young people and that a model project FSJ digital is to be initiated for this purpose. The concept of the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office provides that all Rhineland-Palatinate FSJ students and their place of assignment can register with a digital project regardless of the FSJ provider. The Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office is one of two sponsors throughout Germany that has been awarded the contract to carry out a "FSJ digital" model project. On January 25, 2016, the "FSJ digital" was officially opened by Federal Labor Minister Andrea Nahles and Prime Minister Malu Dreyer .
Youth art schools
Since 2008, the cultural office has been supporting and advising the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Education, Science, Further Education and Culture in setting up and expanding youth art schools . The aim is to give children and young people an extracurricular learning space where they can come into contact with art and culture and try them out for themselves. In this context, the cultural office organizes an annual youth art school day in Rhineland-Palatinate for those involved in child and youth education, each of which is subject to a specific topic. The general task of the cultural office in setting up and expanding youth art schools is to be the link between the ministry and the art institution and to provide both of them with advice in order to overcome structural and financial adversities. The youth art school days are also used for this purpose, during which topics are discussed that stem from everyday life in youth art schools. Getting to know each other in the youth art schools is particularly important.

Generation K project management - culture meets school
Since 2017, the Rhineland-Palatinate cultural office has been in charge of the new GenerationK project - culture meets school. The three-year project was started in cooperation with the Rhineland-Palatinate ministries for education as well as for science, further education and culture and the Mercator Foundation . The aim of the project is to establish cultural education as an equal part of general school education. GenerationK - Culture meets School is funded with € 700,000 as part of the Mercator Foundation's Creative Potentials framework program. The two Rhineland-Palatinate ministries are contributing € 500,000. In addition to the project management by the culture office, GenerationK - culture meets school is supported by a service point for cultural education. In a jury meeting, the following secondary schools with all-day courses were selected:
- Kurfürst-Balduin-Realschule plus , Trier
- Gutenberg High School , Mainz
- Kanonikus-Kir-Realschule plus , Mainz
- IGS Pellenz , Plaidt
- Goethe-Realschule plus , Koblenz
- Nieder-Olm high school , Nieder-Olm
Festival star youth theater
The festival star youth theater of the Kulturbüro represents a classic socio-cultural project. It combines the three fields of youth cultural work, cooperation and theater pedagogical work and offers children and young people a balanced mix of youth-specific and socially critical topics. The festival star youth theater has been an integral part of the Rhineland-Palatinate cultural summer since 1994 and is enjoying growing popularity due to the increasing participation of schools in Rhineland-Palatinate. In addition to introducing young people to the topic of theater, the focus of the work is on networking between artists and organizers in the culture office's self-image. This is also reflected in the organization of the festival star. Theater groups travel through Rhineland-Palatinate between May and October in order to show young people their program at different theaters and thereby come into contact with different organizers. The festival star youth theater was in 2015 in children's and youth theater really now! on.
Youth theater festival impuls! V
Every two years the Kulturbüro Rheinland-Pfalz organizes the youth theater festival impuls! V. As a cooperation partner of the Koblenz Theater. It should do justice to the living environment of young people and offer suggestions to the local scene through a variety of different working methods in youth theater. Unlike the festival star youth theater, which is aimed at young people as spectators, the youth theater festival impuls! V is intended to address young actors and other actors interested in acting in order to give them the opportunity to exchange ideas and develop further. The youth theater festival impuls! V took place for the last time in 2014.
Children's and youth theater really now!
Since 2015, the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office, together with the Rhineland-Palatinate Kultursommer, has been organizing the children's and youth theater festival "Echt now!" The new format emerged from the festival stars youth theater of the cultural office and puppet theater of the cultural summer Rhineland-Palatinate. By real now! Is it a guest performance grant for which independent and municipal organizers in Rhineland-Palatinate can apply for support for a children's or youth theater production by a professional ensemble.
Culture & Management
With this series of advanced training courses in the field of cultural management, the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office targets cultural workers, i. H. Employees from cultural institutions, centers, offices, associations, initiatives, employees from theaters, festival organizers, cabaret stages, etc., but also to artists. This group of people should be given the opportunity to train themselves in crucial aspects that are necessary for the successful operation of a cultural or art establishment. This is a further building block to strengthen the independent art scene in Rhineland-Palatinate and to give the small art and culture businesses tools to assert themselves in the art and culture scene in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Mentoring for female visual artists
With the Mentoring for Visual Artists project, the Rhineland-Palatinate Cultural Office launched an initiative in 2004 to network visual artists and to make it easier for young professionals to take their first steps. As early as the 1990s, there was a sustained demand for qualification measures for women in artistic professions at the women's conferences held by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Education, Women and Youth. Since the beginning of the project, two artists - a young professional and an experienced mentor - have been working together in the so-called tandem process and become part of the overall network of women artists that has been built up over time.
Anniversaries
On June 15, 2013, the 20th anniversary of the Rhineland-Palatinate Culture Office was celebrated in the Kulturfabrik (Koblenz) in the presence of the press and the public . At the ceremony it was once again made clear: "From the start in 1993, the cultural office was not only the office and interest coordinator of the LAG with its 24 member institutions from the southern Palatinate to the Upper Western Forest."
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the FSJ law, the RPR1. Rhineland-Palatinate Open Air presented the voluntary social year by the various Rhineland-Palatinate organizations under the motto "Experience FSJ".
