Rhineland-Palatinate Open Air 2013

The Rhineland-Palatinate Open Air emerged from a concert for the state anniversary in 1997 and has taken place once a year in the Rhineland-Palatinate state capital Mainz until 2014 . The open-air area was on Ernst-Ludwig-Platz on the Große Bleiche between the state ministries and the Electoral Palace .

Organized the nearly ten hours of free music festival of the Landtag of Rhineland-Palatinate , the State Chancellery Rheinland-Pfalz and a radio station. SWR3 was a radio partner between 1998 and 2004 , then RPR1 took over the radio partnership with its youth broadcaster bigFM from 2005 to 2014 . In mid-February 2015, RPR1 informed the state parliament and state government that it did not want to continue the contract to hold the Rhineland-Palatinate Open Air in the state parliament and government district in 2015.

2002

The festival was opened by Prime Minister Kurt Beck , Minister for Youth Doris Ahnen and SWR Director Peter Voss . SWR3 presenters: Stephanie Haiber and Michael Spelth , as well as some SWR3 comedy star Andreas Müller . Music acts were Reamonn and Fury in the Slaughterhouse , Amanda Marshall , Sylver , Natural , Wonderwall , Laith Al-Deen , David Charvet and The Alice Band .

2003

Among other things, DJ BoBo performed , who appeared for the first time with his entire band and crew at such an open air.

2004

The Scorpions , Laith Al-Deen , Jeanette, Bossom, Groove Guerrilla and Silbermond , which were advertised as newcomers at the time , were on stage .

Guests at the premiere of RPR1 were: Melanie C. , Reamonn , Annett Louisan , Fettes Brot , Guildo Horn , Vanilla Ninja , Frameless , Overground , John Sutherland , Allee der Kosmonauten , Königwerq , T-Rio , P: lot and Ira Losco .

2006

This year the Rhineland-Palatinate Open Air took place with Katie Melua , Simple Minds , Mattafix , Tobias Regner , Mike Leon Grosch , Marc Terenzi , Simon Webbe , Rolf Stahlhofen , Soccx and Claus Eisenmann .

2007 (August 18)

Rihanna , Christina Stürmer , Mark Medlock , Ich + Ich , DolceNera , Martin Kilger , Menschenskinder , Kunze & Die Dicken Kinder , Bülent Ceylan . Rhianna stepped in at short notice to replace Shaggy .

2008 (August 2nd)

There were Anna Joan & Band, Fred Freytag, Die dicken Kinder, Madcon , Jenniffer Kae, Vincent , Joy Denalane , Shaggy & Band and Die Fantastischen Vier as guests. For the Fantas it was the start of the tour.

2009

On stage were Sunrise Avenue and the Sugababes , Cascada , Stanfour , Daniel Schuhmacher , Sarah Kreuz , Eisblume and The Baseballs

2010 (August 7th)

Robin Gibb , 2raumwohnung , Gabriella Cilmi , Stanfour and Rolf Stahlhofen were guests

2011

On stage were Ich + Ich , Milow , Juli , Die Atzen , Alphaville and the cast of the musical We Will Rock You at the time

2012 (August 11th)

The artists Culcha Candela , Glasperlenspiel , Nena and Jupiter Jones performed. The two artists from Worms, D'Artayon Duval and Anil Akin, opened the festival.

2013 (August 17)

The festival with over 60,000 visitors was organized by Prime Minister Malu Dreyer , Deputy President of the State Parliament Hannelore Klamm , RPR1. and bigFM managing director Kristian Kropp as well as the RPR1.Morningshow presenter duo Kunze & Nadja. Most of the costs (550,000 to 650,000 euros) are covered by RPR1. The state government contributes 50,000 euros, the state chancellery 30,000 euros. On the stage were Silbermond , Sunrise Avenue , Tim Bendzko , MC Fitti , Jake & the Convolution (winner of the bigFM young talent competition), Iggy and the German Kids , Di-rect .

2014 (September 6th)

The 10th RPR1 Rheinland-Pfalz Open Air took place on September 6th with Cro , Rea Garvey , Kim Wilde , Alligatoah and the Rheinhessen acoustic musicians Flo & Chris. The festival was attended by a total of 60,000 people on Ernst-Ludwig-Platz.

In mid-February 2015, RPR1 announced its withdrawal from the festival for cost reasons. It is not yet known whether the festival can take place with another partner.
