House for Hirzen
The Haus zum Hirzen is a two - part half - timbered building in the municipality of Thayngen in the canton of Schaffhausen from the 16th century and included in the list of cultural assets of national importance .
history
One of the oldest inns in Thayngen was located in the “Hirzen”, which is why it has been mentioned very often since the 16th century. The oldest existing building cores date from the years 1529/30. A well-known host from the time was Thoma Buchter, the Thaynger 1561 at the Diet in Baden successfully represented and left a foundation for the poor of the village. In addition, important negotiations took place in “Hirzen” for Thayngen, such as the trial of the Eulach family against the city of Schaffhausen (1567–80) for rule over Barzheim .
particularities
The house shape corresponds to a regulated homestead , in which the various uses are structurally separated and the building has two (or more) ridges. On the east side, the left half, which housed the tavern, which was used until the 1830s, protrudes from the overall front, giving the impression of an independent, smaller building. On the receding side, the frame work was temporarily covered with plaster until the extensive renovation in 1991/92 and was then made visible again on the entire building front to the east. In this half there is a limestone passage arch at street level with the note "A ° 1703"
