Barzheim is a place and a former independent political municipality in the district of Reiat , Canton of Schaffhausen , Switzerland . In 2004 Barzheim merged to form the municipality of Thayngen .

history

Four Alemannic graves (abandoned settlement Alenfingen) date from the 7th century. In the High Middle Ages, Barzheim belonged to the Landgraviate of Nellenburg, from the 13th century onwards to Upper Austria and came to Schaffhausen in 1723. From the 15th century until 1798 it was part of the "Obervogtei Thayngen-B." (Niedergericht), one third of which belonged to the Im Thurn, von Fulach and the city of Schaffhausen families.

After the Stockach trial (1566–80), Schaffhausen took over the Fulach share. The Stokar were important landowners. During the Thirty Years' War, Barzheim was destroyed by imperial troops in 1633. Ecclesiastically the village (chapel mentioned in 1370) belonged to the German Hilzingen until the Reformation , which was incorporated into the St. Georg monastery in Stein am Rhein, then to Thayngen. The chapel, rebuilt in 1522, was used as a schoolhouse from 1829–1972 (the school was closed). From 1926 to 28 there was amalgamation and amelioration, in 1963 and 1967 land consolidation of 32 ha of property in Riedheim (D) took place. Since 1988 Barzheim has been made accessible by postbus courses.

Barzheim was mentioned as Barzhein in 1238 .
