The Havola Escarpment is an isolated, snowy and around 50 km long road ratio in the West Antarctic Ellsworth Land . It is located 50 km northwest of the Thiel Mountains . The step of the terrain is arched with a southern orientation.
Members of a team from the United States Antarctic Research Program to explore the Horlick Mountains between 1958 and 1959 surveyed the terrain. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named them in 1962 after Major Antero Arnold Havola (1911-1998) of the United States Army , who from December 8, 1960 to January 11, 1961 on a tractor drive from Byrd Station to the geographic South Pole participated and had passed this formation a few kilometers north.
