Daniel D. Harris

Daniel Duffey Harris (born March 19, 1947 in Colorado Springs , Colorado , † October 1, 2012 in Simi Valley , California ) was an American guitarist and actor.

Harris grew up in Nashville and came to California when he was fourteen with his parents, musicians and composers Roy and Johana Harris . There he bought his first guitar and formed a rock band with his older brother Shaun Harris . In the early 1980s he met his wife Victoria Ann, who was a sculptor and bluegrass musician. They lived in Sweden for seven years and performed as musicians in Stockholm and on the cruise ferries of the Viking Line .

Upon returning to Los Angeles, his wife turned to wall painting while Harris went to film. He took acting classes at SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Conservatory for four years and was a private student of John Swanbeck . He has had roles in several television and cinema productions, including as a prison guard in The Green Mile . In 2012 he died while filming John Lee Hancock's film Saving Mr. Banks .
