Haworthia bolusii is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodil family (Asphodeloideae). The specific epithet bolusii honors the South African banker Harry Bolus (1834–1911).

description

Haworthia bolusii grows without a trunk and sprouts slowly. The inwardly curved, elongated lanceolate leaves form a rosette with a diameter of 4 to 8 centimeters. The translucent leaf blade is bluish green. On the leaf edge and on the leaf keel there are thorns with a length of more than 2 millimeters.

The powerful inflorescence reaches a length of up to 30 centimeters. The broad flowers are flat at the base of the flower tube.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia bolusii is widespread in the South African province of Eastern Cape .

The first description by John Gilbert Baker was published in 1880. A nomenclatory synonym is Haworthia arachnoidea var. Bolusii (Baker) Halda (1997).

A distinction is made between the following varieties :

  • Haworthia bolusii var. Bolusii
  • Haworthia bolusii var. Blackbeardiana (Poelln.) MBBayer
