Haworthia decipiens is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodil family (Asphodeloideae).

description

Haworthia decipiens grows without a trunk and sprouts slowly. The ascending, broadly egg-shaped, occasionally pointed leaves form a rosette with a diameter of up to 20 centimeters. The bright green leaf blade is relatively thin. There are a few thorns on the edge of the leaf and wide at their base .

The strong inflorescence reaches a length of up to 40 centimeters. The numerous, densely packed, broad flowers are flat at the base of the flower tube.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia decipiens is common in the South African provinces of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape .

The first description by Karl von Poellnitz was published in 1930.

A distinction is made between the following varieties :

  • Haworthia decipiens var. Decipiens
  • Haworthia decipiens var. Cyanea M.B.Bayer
  • Haworthia decipiens var. Minor M.B.Bayer
  • Haworthia decipiens var. Pringlei (CLScott) MBBayer
