Haworthia gracilis is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae).

description

Haworthia gracilis grows stemless and sprouts. The 30 to 40 lanceolate-pointed, inwardly curved leaves form a rosette with a diameter of up to 6 centimeters. The leaf blade is pale grayish green. The top of the leaf is translucent between the veins. There are thin short thorns on the leaf margins

The inflorescence reaches a length of up to 302 centimeters and consists of 15 to 20 white flowers .

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia gracilis is common in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.

The first description by Karl von Poellnitz was published in 1929. A nomenclature synonym is Haworthia arachnoidea var. Gracilis (Poelln.) Halda (1997).

A distinction is made between the following varieties :

  • Haworthia gracilis var. Isabellae (Poelln.) MBBayer
  • Haworthia gracilis var. Picturata M.B.Bayer
