Haworthia heidelbergensis is a species of the genus Haworthia in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae).

Haworthia heidelbergensis grows stemless and sprouts. The numerous upright to backward curved leaves form a rosette with a diameter of up to 8 centimeters. The firm, fleshy, dark green, reddish tinged leaf blade is 3 to 5 centimeters long and 0.5 to 1 centimeter wide. The halfway trimmed end face is slightly translucent. The tip of the leaf is flattened and rounded. There are usually small thorns on the leaf edge and the leaf quill .

The inflorescence reaches a length of up to 20 centimeters and consists of ten to 15 whitish flowers that are brownish veined.

Systematics and distribution

Haworthia heidelbergensis is widespread in the Western Cape province of South Africa.

The first description by Gerald Graham Smith was published in 1948. A nomenclature synonym is Haworthia retusa var. Heidelbergensis (GGSm.) Halda (1997).

A distinction is made between the following varieties :
