Hayri Ündül
Hayri Ündül (* 1929 in Muğla , † 25. November 2014 in Izmir ) was a Turkish lieutenant general of the army (Türk Kara Kuvvetleri) , among others, from 1976 to 1978 the first commander of the Armed Forces of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC Güvenlik Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı) and from 1986 to 1988 director of the national intelligence service MIT ( Millî İstihbarat Teşkilâtı ) was.
Life
After attending school, Ündül completed an officer training course at the Army School ( Kara Harp Okulu ) , which he completed in 1950 as an ensign (Asteğmen) . He then found employment as an officer and staff officer in numerous units of the army. After his promotion to brigadier general (Tuğgeneral) he was born on September 10, 1976 the first commander of the Armed Forces of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (KKTC Güvenlik Kuvvetleri Komutanlığı) after in Operation Atilla made occupation of the north of the island of Cyprus by Turkey on July 20, 1974 He remained in this post until his replacement by Major General Attila Erdoğan on August 26, 1978. After further assignments, he was promoted to Major General (Tümgeneral) in 1980 .
After his promotion to lieutenant general (co- general ) , Ündül was first commanding general of the VII. Corps (VII. Kolordu) in Diyarbakır in 1985 and then on September 5, 1986 successor to Lieutenant General Burhanettin Bigalı as director of the national intelligence service MIT ( Millî İstihbarat Teşkilâtı ) . He held this position until his retirement on August 29, 1988, whereupon Lieutenant General Teoman Koman was his successor.
