Headcrash is a German-American crossover band, founded in 1993 in Pirmasens .
Band history
First founded as a pure studio product in 1992, the band became a top act on the scene with the EP Scapegoat, released on the Zoth Omog label , the title song of the same name still enjoys cult status today. The record deal with East West / Time Warner in 1994 was followed by the entry of drummer Nico Berthold, guitarist Roger Ingenthron and the second front man Shane Cooper. The album Direction of Correctness reached number 1 in the charts in the Czech Republic , H-Blockx and Guano Apes played in the opening act of the live tour . The successor Overdose on Tradition made it into the German charts and was also a success in the USA. With the move from Time Warner to Sony , Nico Berthold was also replaced by Matthias Liebetruth, and Uli Franke left the band. With Lifeboat , the band released their most successful and last album in 1998, reinforced by Otto van Alphen's bass guitar. In the same year the band contributed the song Asphalt Ostrich to the German version of the soundtrack of Lost in Space . After concerts at Rock am Ring , Rock im Park and the Bizarre Festival , the band broke up in 1999.
In the years 2002–2003 the band played a few concerts with Herwig Meyszner and Shane Cooper from the regular formation, supplemented by the British brothers Justin (guitarist with Senser ) and Paul Stone; However, this remained only a project of which two unofficial albums have been released so far. Headcrash played the last concert so far in this formation for the 20th birthday of the Spermbirds in Kaiserslautern, after which Andy Klein replaced Paul Stone on drums.
In December 2006, Cranium was released with previously unreleased and some new songs. The new album announced for mid / late 2007 has not yet been released (as of December 2008).

Reviews
- Lifeboat (1998): Intro.de praises the fact that the sound image has become a more homogeneous and modern one , but criticizes the band's not exactly broad spectrum between spoken chants and death roars, between digital sounds and heroic deeds on the riff guitar .
- Cranium (2006): Laut.de is surprised to hear about Headcrash again after the publication of Cranium . Especially the concert recordings whet the appetite to see the guys live again .
