Headhunter is a German power and thrash metal band founded by Destruction singer Schmid . Headhunter released three albums in the 1990s until they broke up in 1997. In 2007 the reunion was announced and a new album was announced.

After the other Destruction musicians fired the singer and bassist “Lubricant” in 1989, he founded the band Headhunter with the Franconian radio presenter Uwe “Schmuddel” Hoffmann and Alex Holzwarth ( Sieges Even , Rhapsody of Fire ). Due to disputes with his ex-label SPV , Holzwarth had to leave the band while recording their first album Parody of Life . The auxiliary drummer Jörg Michael then joined Headhunter permanently. In this formation, the band released the album in 1990 on Virgin Records.
In 1991 Headhunter went on tour of Japan and recorded the second album A Bizarre Garden Accident , which was released in 1992. Hoffmann was seriously injured in a traffic accident in 1993; then the entire band paused for some time to release the third album "Rebirth" in 1994.
Despite good reviews, the sales of the albums were not so high to secure the band members financially, so that they were subsequently forced to take other jobs. In 1997 the band broke up due to a lack of prospects.
In 2007 AFM Records took over the distribution rights for the Headhunter albums and released all three CDs as remasters. In August 2007, Headhunter announced a new album called Parasite Of Society .
