Heartworm is the second studio album by the Irish band Whipping Boy . It was released on Columbia Records in November 1995.
history
After recording their predecessor Submarine , the band moved to a rehearsal room in Dublin to write most of the songs for Heartworm . Warner financed the band's demo recordings of We Don't Need Nobody Else , but were not interested in further collaboration after they received the result. Then the song came to Sony and they decided to finance further demo recordings. Ultimately, both Sony and EMI were keen to sign Whipping Boy . They decided on a contract with Sony and selected Warne Livesey as producer and Lou Giordano for mixing. The recordings took place from September to November 1994 at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin. Both the band and Sony were completely satisfied with the result.
The album was not granted any commercial success. The first single release Twinkle reached number 55 in the British singles charts, but could only stay there for a week. The second single, We Don't Need Nobody Else , reached number 51 and also disappeared from the charts after just a week. The third single, When We Were Young , was in the charts for a total of two weeks. It made it into the top 50, but not beyond 46th place.
