Heather Leigh Murray (* 1979 in West Virginia ) is an American improvisation musician (multi-instrumentalist, mainly pedal steel guitar , vocals ) and songwriter who first became known in the field of noise music.

Act

Leight grew up in Houston , where she appeared in the late 1990s as part of Taurpis Tula and Ash Castles on the Ghost Coast , then with Charalambides . She played with Thurston Moore , Paul Flaherty , Chris Corsano and Matt Heyner in the band Dream / Action Unit , and she also had the duo Jailbreak with Chris Corsano. As a graphic designer she worked with Pauline Oliveros .

Leigh currently lives in Glasgow, where she and David Keenan have been running the record store Volcanic Tongue since 2004 . She wrote songs and released solo albums such as There's a Brunette Up in Tulsa That Cries for Me , Devil If You Can Hear Me, I Abused Animals, and Glory Days . Since 2016 she has also worked in a duo with Peter Brötzmann , with whom she recorded the albums Sex Tape , Ears Are Filled with Wonder and Sparrow Nights .

She has also performed with Jandek , Richard Youngs, Blood Stereo, MV & EE, Marcia Bassett, Robbie Yeats ( The Dead C ), John Olson ( Wolf Eyes ), Smegma and Jutta Koether .
