Heave-ho Slope (loosely translated: quick-fix pitch ) is an ice slope on the Borchgrevink Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It drops over 450 meters from Quarterdeck Ridge to a mountain saddle at the southwest end of the Hallett Peninsula . The ice slope is part of a suitable overland connection between Hallett Station and the Tucker Glacier , if broken sea ice in Edisto Inlet prevents such access.
Scientists from a campaign carried out from 1957 to 1958 as part of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition named it so after they were forced to roll their sleds here because of a soft layer of snow .
