Heber Carl Jentzsch (born November 30, 1935 in Salt Lake City , Utah ) has been the President of the Church of Scientology since 1982 .

Career

Heber Jentzsch grew up in a Mormon family . His father had 52 children with eight wives. Heber is named after Heber C. Kimball (1801–1868), Apostle of the Church of Christ . He was expelled from the Mormons in 1955. He studied at the University of Utah , where he received a degree in communication studies in 1959. In 1967 he joined the Church of Scientology, became its press spokesman in the 1970s and has been its president since 1982. From around 2004 he no longer performed publicly in this role.

According to statements by Scientology dropout Mike Rinder , Jentzsch was subsequently beaten and humiliated by Scientology leader David Miscavige . He is in the Scientology Int. Base locked up in a special prison camp for executives and has lived there since around 2006 under miserable circumstances. His former wife Karen de la Carriere , with whom he was married from 1978 to 1988 and who resigned from the Church of Scientology in 2010, confirmed these statements. A Scientology lawyer, on the other hand, contradicted Rinder's account: Jentzsch lives and works in church facilities, just because of his age he appears less publicly than in the past.

Heber's only son Alexander Jentzsch died in 2012 at the age of 27 under unexplained circumstances.
