from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heckenhausen is now a desolate place southeast of Borken in the Schwalm-Eder district in Hesse , Germany . The place was probably on a slight hill (approx. 220 meters above sea level ) between Borken and the Marienrode farm .

The first documentary mention was in 1265 under the name Heckinhusin . The place was owned by the Landgrave of Hesse and belonged to the Borken Office , but was for a long time pledged to the Landgrave's followers. It is documented that Landgrave Otto I. had pledged goods in Heckenhausen to Werner von Löwenstein-Westerburg in 1318 , that these and the Landgrave's court of Heckenhausen were redeemed in 1338, and that the "iurisdictio Heckenhausen" was passed on to Werner von in the same year Gilsa was mortgaged. In 1372 the pastor of Borken, Johann von Schorpheim, had shares in Heckenhausen, which he returned to Landgrave Hermann II that year . Hermann II gave his share in Heckenhausen in the same year (as pledge or fief?) To the lords of Löwenstein-Westerburg. The last mention of the village as a noble village was in 1570.
