Hector Durville

Marie-François Hector Durville (born April 8, 1849 in Mousseaux-sur-Seine , † September 1, 1923 in Montmorency ) was a French occultist and author who dealt with animal magnetism .

Durville founded the Société Magnétique de France in 1887 , in 1893 the École Pratique de Magnétisme et de Massage , the esoteric Ordre Eudiaque de France and, with his son Henri Durville (1887–1963), the Institute for Magnetism in Paris. He himself published the Journal du Magnétisme , his sons Henri and Gaston Durville (1887–1971) the Revue du Psychisme Expérimental .

In his book Fantôme des Vivants he published historical and theoretical considerations on astral projection, i.e. on consciously experienced out-of-body experiences . He also describes attempts with people who stated that they could consciously experience, to detach their astral body from the physical body, i.e. experienced astral projections. The experiments dealt with the way in which astral bodies interact with one another, that of astral bodies with the physical bodies of other people, and that of astral bodies with physical equipment, for example calcium sulfide screens and sthenometers .

In the work mentioned, he finally comes to the conclusion:

"1. The sending out of the astral body is a fact that can be proven by experiments that serve it directly. These experiments also show us that the life force is independent of matter and that our ego consists of a physical body and a thinking soul as well as a link, the astral body.

2. Since this astral body can exist and work separately from the physical body, it can also exist after death, ie immortality is a scientifically proven fact. "
