The Hedin Nunatak is a 555 m high and distinctive nunatak on the Walgreen coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . With its flattened summit and its steep cliffs, it rises 17.5 km west-northwest of the summit of Mount Murphy .
Aerial photographs of the US American Operation Highjump (1946–1947) from January 1947 were used for the first rough mapping. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1967 after Alan E. Hedin, aurora researcher at Byrd Station in 1962.
