Hedy d'Ancona
Hedwig "Hedy" d'Ancona (born October 1, 1937 in The Hague ) is a Dutch politician , geographer and sociologist .
Political career
At the beginning of her political career, Hedy d'Ancona was State Secretary for Social Affairs and Labor from 1981 to 1982 and Minister for Social Affairs, Sport and Health in the cabinet of Prime Minister Ruud Lubbers from 1989 to 1994 ; she also dealt with issues such as equality between men and women. She was a member of the European Parliament from 1984 to 1989 and from 1994 to 1999 and sat for the Partij van de Arbeid in the first chamber of the Dutch Parliament .
Oxfam
From April 1995 to June 2004 she was chairwoman of Oxfam Novib and during this time also held the position of 2nd chairwoman of Oxfam International .
