Heftye Island ( Norwegian Heftyeøya ) is a small island in the Ross Sea off the Borchgrevink coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is the southernmost island in the group of Possession Islands southeast of the Adare Peninsula .
Participants in the Norwegian Antarctic expedition on the ship Antarctic (1894–1895) named the island after the Thos bank . Joh. Heftye & Søn , shareholder of this research trip . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the name to English in 1962.
