The Heidefriedhof is a former cemetery in the Dölauer Heide , the city forest and today's recreational area of Halle (Saale) .

The cemetery was laid out in the mid-19th century and is located in the northeast of the Dölauer Heide on Schwedenweg next to the Schwedenschanze. It was used to bury the nameless dead who were found in the Dölauer Heide. Most of these were suicides and victims of violent crimes.

During this time the Dölauer Heide was owned by the Prussian state . The surrounding communities refused to bury the dead in their cemeteries because of the cost. In the course of time, 52 graves were created. Since 1893 these nameless dead have also been commemorated on Sundays of the Dead. The responsible forester had the cemetery re-fenced and the graves restored. The gymnastics club Friesen, of which a former member is buried there, decorated his grave, and later all other graves, with flowers for the feast of the dead and held a funeral service in the open air. In 1910 a simple sandstone bench by the sculptor Schwerdter was set up opposite the entrance to the cemetery, bearing an inscription:

In the quiet grove with God alone, remember the loved ones who are over there with him. "

The last burial is said to have taken place in 1920. The Dölauer Heide has belonged to the city of Halle since 1929 and the cemetery also lost its function. The burials now took place in the Halle cemeteries. The Heath Association took care of the Heidefriedhof. After the Second World War, the cemetery became more and more neglected. Today only very few graves are left. A notice board briefly informs visitors of the heath about the history of the cemetery.
