«Heidi - The Musical»

In the summer months of 2005 and 2006, Heidi - The Musical (referred to as part 1 in retrospect ) was performed on the lake stage in Walenstadt. The musical is based on the novel Heidis Lehr- und Wanderjahre by Johanna Spyri . In the plot, Johanna Spyri's life was closely interwoven with her fictional character Heidi. That is why the biographies of these two people were staged in parallel on stage.

«Heidi - The Musical» (Part 2)

A second part followed in 2007 and 2008. Like the first, this musical is a double story, consisting of the life of Johanna Spyri and that of her fictional character Heidi. It shows the writer already as a widow and in her second Heidi novel that Heidi can use what she has learned to write. The close connection between the author's life and the world of her character in a novel is shown in a duet between these two characters. Johanna Spyri sings High German and Heidi in a Swiss dialect .

«Heidi - The Musical (Part 3) - How it all began»

The third part was written but never performed. The plot is designed as a prequel for the first part and tells the childhood of Johanna Heusser, who later wrote the Heidi novels, and based on this, the creation of the world of Heidi.

Johanna suffers from the strict upbringing of her religious and prudish parents in Hirzel. She takes refuge in her fictional friend Adelheid. At the same time, the parents choose Bernhard Spyri as their husband, but Johanna falls in love with the young poet Heinrich Luethold. Her imaginary friend Adelheid also falls in love with the young carpenter Tobias, who is returning to Dörfli from his apprenticeship in Mels. Johanna wants to marry Heinrich and Adelheid's wedding is about to begin when Johanna is sent to Zurich and Tobias' father, who is later called Alpöhi, returns. Johanna resists the forced marriage to Bernhard Spyri and Adelheid becomes pregnant, but the happiness is short-lived.
