Heidi Sørensen (born February 14, 1970 in Levanger ) is a Norwegian conservationist and politician of the Sosialistisk Venstreparti (SV). From October 2007 to April 2012 she was State Secretary in the Jens Stoltenberg II government .

Life

In 1992 Sørensen graduated with a degree in history and political science. Between 1991 and 1995 she was politically active on the board of the EU-critical organization Nei til EU . From 1993 to 1995 she was also the chairman of the Norwegian youth environmental protection association Natur og Ungdom . She then headed the parent organization Norges Naturvernforbund until 1998 . Between 1998 and 2001 she was the head of the Grønt Lys company .

Sørensen was a member of the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , from 2001 to 2005 . There she represented the constituency of Oslo during this time and she was a member of the parliamentary committee of her party. The newspaper Aftenposten described her as the first known environmental activist to enter parliament. In the 2005 parliamentary elections, she lost her fixed mandate, but from October 2005 to October 2007 and again from April 2012 to September 2013 she represented her party colleague Kristin Halvorsen , who as a member of the government had to suspend her parliamentary mandate . Between October 18, 2007 and April 27, 2012, Sørensen was State Secretary in the Ministry of the Environment.

From 2013 to 2016 she worked for the environmental protection organization WWF . In January 2017 she became head of the newly created climate authority of the municipality of Oslo.
