Heiko Reichel

Heiko Reichel (born June 11, 1960 in Annaberg-Buchholz ) is a German orthopedic surgeon and trauma surgeon . Reichel has been the Medical Director of the Orthopedic University Clinic at the RKU - University and Rehabilitation Clinics Ulm since 2005 , since 2006 Chief Medical Director of the RKU - University and Rehabilitation Clinics Ulm and since 2016 President of the German Society for Orthopedics and Orthopedic Surgery (DGOOC) and the Germans Society for Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery (DGOU).

Life

After studying human medicine (1982–1988) at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), Heiko Reichel completed his specialist training at the Orthopedic University Clinic Halle from 1988 to 1992. In 1993 Reichel was appointed senior physician. From 1995 to 2004 he worked as a senior consultant at the University Clinic for Orthopedics in Halle (Saale). During this time he was doing research at international orthopedic centers. Reichel completed his habilitation in 1996 at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. In 2003 he was given an extraordinary professorship at the MLU, and the following year he was appointed C4 professor for orthopedics at the University of Ulm. Reichel has been Medical Director of the Orthopedic University Clinic at the RKU - University and Rehabilitation Clinics Ulm since 2005. Since 2006, he has also held the position of Senior Medical Director at the RKU University and Rehabilitation Clinics in Ulm.

Heiko Reichel's research focuses on primary and revision endoprosthetics of the hip and knee joint and joint-preserving hip surgery. He is particularly concerned with the biomechanical in-vitro testing of endoprostheses and the bioactive coating of implant surfaces.

Functions

Heiko Reichel has been a member of the DGOOC since 1990. In addition, he has been a board member of the AE - German Society for Endoprosthetics since 2008 and was President of the AE - German Society for Endoprosthetics, a section of the DGOU, in 2015. In addition, Reichel has other memberships in other specialist societies. Reichel has been involved in the advanced training committee of the Baden-Württemberg State Medical Association since 2007 .
