Holy Cross Chapel (Bad Fredeburg)
The Catholic Chapel of the Holy Cross is a listed church building in Bad Fredeburg , a district of Schmallenberg in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).
History and architecture
The small plastered hall with a three-sided end to the east and west was consecrated in 1646. The roof turret is two-fold.
Above the portal there is a small niche that used to contain a statue of George. The inscription stone bears the designation 1502. In the interior, a cove ceiling was drawn in, the painting is neo-baroque.
Furnishing
- The rococo column retable with elegantly moving figures of two female saints is remarkable . It was probably made in 1774.
- The Pietà was carved around 1420, the setting is from more recent times.
