Holy Cross (Saarbrücken)
The Heilig Kreuz Church is a Roman Catholic parish church of the Trier diocese in Saarbrücken . It is located in the Folsterhöhe residential area that was newly built in 1964 and is part of Alt-Saarbrücken near the German-French border.
history
The current church building was consecrated on September 14, 1996 by the Trier Bishop Hermann Josef Spital . It replaced a previous building from 1964 called the Notkirche. In 2003 the parish was integrated into the newly established parish community of St. Jakob (Old Saarbrücken) .
Building description
The towerless church building has a square floor plan, on the north side of which is a small semicircular apse . A parish center with appropriate rooms adjoins it in the southeast. The entire building complex is made of a light white stone, which is visible both outside and inside. The church interior is covered by a flat, conical roof with a simple cross on the top. A single small bell is attached to the west wall of the church.
