Holy Family is a Catholic church in Bad Salzdetfurth , a town in the Hildesheim district in Lower Saxony . The church, named after the Holy Family , is located at Elsa-Brandström-Straße 51, it belongs to the parish of St. Gallus , based in Detfurth , in the Alfeld-Detfurth dean's office of the Hildesheim diocese .

history

In 1961 the church was built and the parish established; Before that, the Catholics in Bad Salzdetfurth, whose number had greatly increased due to the settlement of refugees and expellees after the Second World War , belonged to the parish of St. Gallus in neighboring Detfurth . The Holy Family Church was consecrated on September 3, 1961 , and the Bad Salzdetfurth parish was established on October 1 of the same year. In 1961 the previous parish vicarie Bodenburg was integrated into the parish of Bad Salzdetfurth. On July 1, 1969, the parish was elevated to a parish. In 1973 the previously Protestant St. Laurentius Church in Bodenburg was given to the Catholic parish.

Since December 1, 2002, the church has belonged to the then newly founded Deanery Alfeld-Detfurth, previously it belonged to the Deanery Bockenem-Detfurth. From January 1st, 2009 the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Westfeld also belonged to the parish of the Holy Family . Since November 1, 2014, the church has belonged to the parish of St. Gallus , based in Detfurth.

The towerless church, located around 140 meters above sea level , was built according to plans by Josef Fehlig .

The parent-child center Bad Salzdetfurth on Horststrasse is operated by the Hildesheimer St. Ansgar child and youth welfare organization .
