The street Heilige Hallen is located in the Brandenburg town of Bad Freienwalde (Oder) in the Märkisch-Oderland district . Three houses in the street are listed. A detailed list of the listed houses can be found in the list of architectural monuments in Bad Freienwalde (Oder) .

Location and history

The street is a dead end. It goes from Gesundbrunnenstrasse . At the end of the street is the Jahn Stadium and behind the stadium the ski jumps on Papengrund . The length of the street is about 600 meters.

The name Holy Halls was coined in the 19th century. Back then, open-air prayers took place here in the beech forest. Around 1900 the name was adopted for the street. In 1956 it was renamed Werner-Seelenbinder-Strasse, after the fall of the Wall the street was renamed Heilige Hallen in 1990. Villas were built here, which were mainly used as villas and guest houses by guests of the Gesundbrunnen. The oldest house is number 1, a half-timbered house from 1790. First the house was a horse stable, from the middle of the 19th century it was used as a residence and later as a guesthouse.

The villas

Because of its proximity to the spa gardens, villa-like guest houses were built here around 1900.

Holy Halls 3

Coming from Gesundbrunnenstrasse, the house is on the left hand side directly at the Heilige Hallen 1. The house was probably built in 1907 by the postal secretary Paul Hartwig. It was used as a house and guesthouse. After 1945 it was converted into a residential building.

The villa was built in the style of late historicism , but you can also find parts in the Art Nouveau style . It is a two-story house with a mansard hipped roof . On the left there is a double axis with loggias , on the right there is a tower with a tail hood . On the side of the tower is the inscription "Pension Luisenhof". The house is no longer used and is falling into disrepair.

Holy Halls 6

The house is on the right-hand side when coming from Gesundbrunnenstrasse. It is also known as the "Hotel Helene". The hotel was built in 1902 by Rudolph Trapp, who at that time also leased the Kurhaus. From 1952 it was used as a spa facility by the German People's Police , and the house has been empty since 1995.

The tower on the right side of the building, built in the style of Italian country house architecture, is characteristic of the facade. Otherwise the house was built in the style of late historicism. The two balconies that go over two floors are also striking.

Holy Halls 10

The house is on the same side as Heilige Hallen 6. It is the "Pension Bethanien". The house was built around 1910. There is a front garden in front of the house, which is separated from the street with a wall. The house, divided into two parts from the front, gives the impression that there are two houses. This impression is reinforced by two entrances. The house has two storeys and an eaves saddle roof . It is the example of a simple pension from the beginning of the 20th century.
