location
The choice of the construction site for the municipal pulmonary hospital required precise planning due to the special requirements. A suitable site was found about five kilometers west of the city center, in the Hardter Forest , where a total of four larger buildings were erected. Sanatorium with administration building, welfare center for lung patients, forest recreation center and forest school.
The building, built in a Nordic wooden construction, is not far from the old Landwehr in the southern area of the forest area.
architecture
The only old block building in Mönchengladbach is a simple rectangular building. It consists of a closed 55 m² classroom and an open hall of the same size with a teacher's room in between . The rear and top of the hall are closed, but have windows. The classroom is completely closed and has windows throughout. A simple gable roof ( gable roof) stiffened at the gables covers the well-made building.
An inscription : Forest School of the City of Gladbach. Remembering the silver wedding anniversary of the imperial couple in 1906.
The forest school is particularly worthy of protection from a medical and social history perspective.
