The Heilstättenweg 240 forest school is located in the Hardter Wald district in Mönchengladbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

The building was built in 1906. It was entered under no. L 019 on December 15, 1987 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

The choice of the construction site for the municipal pulmonary hospital required precise planning due to the special requirements. A suitable site was found about five kilometers west of the city center, in the Hardter Forest , where a total of four larger buildings were erected. Sanatorium with administration building, welfare center for lung patients, forest recreation center and forest school.

The building, built in a Nordic wooden construction, is not far from the old Landwehr in the southern area of ​​the forest area.

The only old block building in Mönchengladbach is a simple rectangular building. It consists of a closed 55 m² classroom and an open hall of the same size with a teacher's room in between . The rear and top of the hall are closed, but have windows. The classroom is completely closed and has windows throughout. A simple gable roof ( gable roof) stiffened at the gables covers the well-made building.
