Home song
A home song or regional anthem is a song that expresses a sense of home and the identity of a region or a municipality . In contrast to national anthems, home songs are usually not officially recognized and therefore not enshrined in laws. However, some of the German and Austrian national anthems (such as the Bayernlied ) have an official character.
A particularly large number of homeland songs were composed - often by pastors or teachers - from the end of the 19th century to the 1960s. Mostly they thematize landscape and local history.
In the consciousness of the population, home songs are present to different degrees. Some are often sung at folk festivals and other occasions, while others have never been able to assert themselves on a large scale.
