The Marienfeld local history museum is a local history museum on Hof Schürmann in Marienfeld , North Rhine-Westphalia . In four exhibition rooms mainly hand tools and agricultural implements are shown, which were common for the area in the eastern Münsterland.

history

On March 12, 1999, 38 Marienfeld citizens founded the Heimatmuseum Marienfeld e. V. founded. Three years earlier, intensive thought had been given to founding a museum. In advance, the association's statutes were drawn up, exhibits collected and members recruited. Conversations with the Schürmann family revealed that the local history museum could be housed in their unused farm buildings. The association completely took care of the financing of the project and carried out the renovations of the premises. The museum was presented to the public on September 12, 1999, an open monument day . The local pastor, Heinrich Siemann, inaugurated the museum. At the opening, the museum had around 200 exhibits and 2,500 visitors. Since it was founded, 320 tours have been carried out with over 10,000 visitors (as of March 2, 2008).
