Heimbs Kaffee is a coffee roastery in Braunschweig . The company, founded in 1880 by Ferdinand Eichhorn (1853–1934) as a "specialty coffee and tea shop" specializes in the needs of cafés and pastry shops and is now one of the ten largest and oldest coffee manufacturers in Germany. The roastery also produces espresso qualities , tea products and drinking chocolate .
history
On January 10, 1880, Eichhorn founded the company at Steinweg 10 ( ⊙ ) with a stock of sixty sacks of coffee. Eichhorn has been roasting his own coffee since 1887 and, in 1894, participated in a steam roaster . A significant improvement in quality was associated with a significantly reduced roasting time.
On December 8, 1920, Carl Heimbs (1878–1972) became a partner in the company. After Eichhorn's death in 1934, the company traded as "Heimbs Kaffee". Since the company buildings on Steinweg were completely destroyed during a heavy bombing attack on October 15, 1944 , the company's headquarters were relocated to the Rebenring in 1950. In 1954 the so-called Aerotherm roasting process was developed.
Heimbs has been part of the Dallmayr Group since 1986 .
