Heimo of Constance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heimo (first mentioned in 1024; † March 18, 1026 ) was Bishop of Constance from 1022 to 1026 .

Life

Heimo was first mentioned on May 13, 1024 as a participant in the Mainz Provincial Synod in Höchst . It is believed that he belonged to Heinrich II's court orchestra before he became Bishop of Constance. In September 1024 he was probably involved in the election of King Conrad II in Kamba . Whitsun 1025, Konrad II visited Constance and held a court day there, which made it clear how important the seat of Bishop Heimo was to Konrad II's Italian policy.

Hermann the Lame , monk, scholar and chronicler of the Reichenau monastery , reports in his world chronicle of Heimo's death, who died on March 18, 1026 of pneumonia. It is not known where he found his final resting place.
