Hein Moeller , actually August Heinrich Moeller , (born December 28, 1882 in Friedrichsmühlen near Boizenburg , † March 11, 1963 in Neuss ) was a German engineer.

Life

Hein Moeller was born the son of a wind miller in Friedrichsmühlen near Boizenburg. He spent his childhood in country churches. From 1899 he studied electrical engineering and mechanical engineering at the Technikum Mittweida and continued his studies at the Technikum Hildburghausen and finally at the Technical University of Zurich in 1900 .

After completing his studies, he worked as an engineer at Voigt & Haeffner in Frankfurt am Main, AEG and Siemens in Berlin, as well as at Felten & Guilleaume in Cologne and at Elektrizitäts-AG formerly W. Lahmeyer & Co. in Frankfurt am Main.

In 1911 Hein Moeller took up a position as technical manager of the F. Klöckner, Ing. Company , special factory in Cologne. In the following years he developed various devices for this company. From 1925 he was the sole owner. From 1942 the company traded under the name Klöckner-Moeller GmbH and from 1999 as Moeller GmbH .

In 1912 Hein Moeller developed the first small oil contactor in Europe. As early as 1919, he implemented the idea of ​​decentralized production (one plant - one type of device) in his company. Six factories were set up within a radius of 100 km around Cologne. In 1922 he formulated the principle of isolating is better than earth and using molded ceramic parts under the name Ardonit. Moeller led 1950 compact circuit breakers and busbar trunking with changeable disposals one on the European market. In 1952 he carried out pioneering work with the introduction of transparent covers, which enabled a visual inspection of the systems without opening the encapsulation.

Hein Moeller Foundation

The Hein Moeller Foundation, a foundation company of Moeller GmbH, has set itself the goal of promoting young technical and business management-technical junior staff at technical colleges, universities and vocational academies. To this end, it awards study grants of around 400 euros per month (as of 2006) for the entire duration of the course. On the occasion of the company's 100th anniversary in 1999, the foundation awarded the Hein Moeller Prize for the first time to promote electrical engineering / energy technology.
