Heine & Co.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Heine & Co. AG was a company for the distillation of essential oils and fragrances .

history

The company was founded in Leipzig in 1859 by entrepreneurs Carl Heine and Otto Steche (1834–1908), brother of the art historian Richard Steche . The owners opened another factory near Riesa . With branches in Berlin , New York City , Calcutta and Paris , Heine & Co. subsequently developed into a "global company". The chemist Albert Steche had been a partner since 1887 . In 1911 the company became a public limited company (AG). The company headquarters was largely destroyed in the Second World War. Nevertheless, the company continued to produce and was converted into a limited partnership (KG) in 1954 . The managing general partner of the KG was Hans Steche until 1956 .

1972 Heine & Co. KG was nationalized. The new name was VEB Aromatic Leipzig . Products included essential oils, fruit flavors , beverage colors, spice essences, and food colors . In 1977 the company was expanded to include VEB Flavorstoffe Leipzig and VEB Leipziger Essences . From 1977 Aromatic Leipzig was subordinated to the VEB Rosenol Leipzig . In 1981 it became the operation of the VEB Kombinat Chemical-Technical Products Leipzig . In 1985 the company was subdivided into the VEB Kombinat Öl und Margarine Magdeburg . In 1992 the successor company Aromatic GmbH Leipzig filed for bankruptcy.

According to the Leipzig State Archives , the Badusan foam bath, popular in the GDR , and its sole rights have been associated with the company since 1958 . This only seems partially correct, as the Badusan brand, together with all of its formulations, was bought up by a Saxon entrepreneur from the bankrupt gerana cosmetics in 2008 . Badusan is now produced in Riesa and bottled and sold in Kesselsdorf by Badusan GmbH .
