Heiner Brinkmann

Heiner Brinkmann (* 1931 in Cologne ) is a German sports scientist and university professor .

Life

Brinkmann passed his Abitur in Koblenz in 1950 and then studied until 1954 at the Sport University Cologne and until 1956 geography, English and history for the teaching post at the University of Cologne . He was multiple German university champion in water polo , swimming, skiing and was also active as a swimming master since 1954 . Later he trained the swimmers of Poseidon Cologne, Bensberg and Bergisch Gladbach.

From 1955 he was employed as a sports teacher at the Dreikönigsgymnasium in Cologne and from 1956 at the sports university. In 1958 he passed his assessor examination and was appointed as a study assessor. He was employed at the Sport University at the Institute for Sport Didactics , from 1957 to 1960 he was also a member of the examination office and was responsible for the preparation of the course catalog during the same period. From 1967 (until 1996) Brinkmann was head of the ski and mountaineering departments at the sports university. From 1972 he held the rank of study professor. In 1979 he took over the management of the institute for swimming, water, winter and martial arts, which, apart from interruptions, he held until his retirement in 1996. Brinkmann was the head of school methodology training at the sports university, was a member of the convention and the state examination office for the first state examinations for teaching positions at Cologne schools. After leaving university, he worked temporarily as a swimming master.

Brinkmann published textbooks on the subjects of cross-country skiing, skibob riding and orienteering. His main areas of research included aspects of sports didactics. He has published over 150 magazine articles, books and media. He was also a speaker for around 120 diploma and state theses.

In 2016 he was awarded the golden badge of honor by the German Sport University Cologne.
