The Heinersdorfer See is about 40 kilometers east of Berlin near the B5 in Heinersdorf (Steinhöfel) , a district of the Steinhöfel municipality in Brandenburg . It is divided by a road embankment into the Kleiner Heinersdorfer See and the Großer Heinersdorfer See . The total area of ​​both lakes is approximately 80 hectares .

history

The waters originated in the Vistula Ice Age and form the remains of a former larger water basin. These are eutrophic lakes with no direct inflow. Geologically, they belong to the main natural spatial unit of the East Brandenburg plate .

On November 8, 1944, the Wehrmacht officer and resistance fighter Hans-Alexander von Voss committed suicide at Lake Heinersdorfer.

The Great Heinersdorfer See is known for catching large catfish over two meters in length. Multiple catches of catfish weighing over 40 pounds are reported each year. In July 2006, a catfish weighing 77 kilograms and 2.2 meters in length was caught. In addition, the lakes have very good stocks of pikeperch and pike , eel and carp .
