Heinfried Engel

Heinfried Engel (born July 8, 1947 in Haiger ) is a former German pole vaulter .

At the European Indoor Games in 1967 in Prague he was fifth, at the Olympic Games in 1968 in Mexico City eighth and at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1970 in Vienna fifth.

In 1971 a fourth place at the European Indoor Championships in Sofia was followed by an eighth place at the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki . In 1972 he was seventh at the European Indoor Championships in Grenoble .

In 1969 he was German champion, in 1967 and 1968 German runner-up. In the hall he won the national title in 1969 and 1979 and was runner-up in 1967, 1971 and 1972.

Heinfried Engel started for SV Siemens Nürnberg until 1967 , then for USC Mainz .
