Heino Masemann grew up in Schwarme, 30 km south of Bremen. His parents ran a small farm. The family was not influenced by the church. After initially wanting to become a journalist, Masemann studied Protestant theology in Bethel and Münster from 1981 to 1988. He then worked for a year at the work group for community development. After the seminary and vicariate he was ordained pastor of the Hanoverian regional church in 1991 and pastor in a rural community in the Elbe-Weser triangle. During this time Masemann was a church district board member and deputy superintendent in the church district. In 1993, he established the worship service for those who were distant from the church in his congregation : "worship 08/16".

Heino Masemann has been the managing director of the diaconal-evangelistic state association for Inner Mission in Hanover since 2011. He is responsible for family vacations on Langeoog and Spiekeroog, head of the diaconal service Emergency Call Mirjam and, since 2004, for the nationwide unique "Expowal" services on the site of the Expo 2000 , today Expo Park Hanover , he is also managing director of the Operation of the Expowal founded LIM WAL gGmbH.

The following blessing is used by him during the Expowal services:

“God our Heavenly Father be above you and keep you on the paths of your life.

Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, be beside you and strengthen you on the paths of your life.

The Holy Spirit, God's power, be in you and give you a happy heart on the paths of your life.

So bless you the triune God, the Father through the Son in the Holy Spirit. "

- Heino Masemann

Since his work as a parish priest, Heino Masemann's focus has been on contemporary communication of the message of the Christian faith. He is particularly interested in so-called “distant church” and “faith distant” people.

From October 31, 2007, he offered a weekly pastoral care talk in Second Life under the pseudonym "Heino Merimann" . The corresponding location ("old town") can no longer be called up in Second Life.

Heino Masemann is often used as a clerical advisor by decision-makers in the fields of politics, business, culture and media. He volunteers for development aid, early childhood education and development, as well as for the extraction, clinical application and research of blood stem cells. He is also the author of an annual advent calendar.

Heino Masemann is the father of four children.
